When most people think about the holiday season they immediately think of all the good times – holiday parties, family dinners, secret santa, vacation days, the list goes on. But, once the holidays hit many find that they bring just as much stress as they do joy. To help make the most of your festivities, we wanted to share some tips to help you de-stress this holiday season.
- Try meditating. Meditation is a great de-stressing tool for any time of year, but when you’re swamped during the holidays it can be an extremely helpful way to relax. Plus, you can do it anywhere. You don’t need to be in a fancy meditation studio. You can meditate while on the bus ride home, when your waiting online at the mall, while at your grandmother’s house – the possibilities are endless. All you have to do is take a few deep, slow, intentional breaths. Need some more guidance? Try a meditation app like headspace, insight timer or calm.
- Swap out coffee for tea. While we love a good cup of coffee, it can also cause anxiety – especially if you start drinking more than you’re used to drinking. It is easy to feel like you need more coffee during the holiday season in order to get everything done before your big party or family dinner. Try swapping out coffee for tea! Drinking green tea regularly can help beat stress and improve your mental wellbeing. This holiday season, consider skipping the coffee and drinking green tea instead. In addition to helping you beat stress, green tea has tons of antioxidants and nutrients!
- Schedule time for yourself. You may not have a ton of free time over the next month or so but it is important to take time for yourself. Schedule non-negotiable “you” time. Maybe you use that time to go the gym, to take a nap, to watch a movie – choose something that helps you decompress and brings you joy. If you’ll be near an Aspen Tan salon, consider coming in to take advantage of one of our wellness services. Our wellness services, including the Cocoon Wellness Pod and Red Light Therapy, offers everything from relaxation, improved energy levels to relief from joint aches and muscle soreness.
